We're due to move into this house in Feb. 2001.
(Yes, we've moved in already.) (Yes, we've moved out again in 2004.)

Now, you too can explore the interior, without even visiting!

[duh... the house]
(Disclaimer: I didn't take the picture.
Some realestate agent with a digital camera did.
Don't whine to me if you think it sucks.)
The address is:
1311 Laperriere Avenue

Val's description:

It's a "semi-bungalow" which basically means it has two storeys but the upper storey is smaller because of the slanting roof. It has a finished basement with carpets but the rest of the house has lovely hardwood floors. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom (kinda small) upstairs and another room which could be a bedroom (or in our case, Dom's computer room) on the main floor.

The layout is rather odd I must admit. When you walk in, there is what appears to be a closet on the right. When you open the doors to this presumed closet, however, you find a toilet. Yes, I thought so too. I guess we can call it our water closet... Apparently the house is worth more if it has a mainfloor bathroom. Okay, whatever. If you go straight ahead after entering the house, you wind up in the dining room, another interesting setup. Off to the left we have a nice sized living room (for the piano...).

We don't have a fireplace unfortunately, but we do have some ancient thing called a heat pump which acts like a fridge and pumps out hot or cold air from the house, depending on the setting and the outside weather. Our furnace is newish but the oil tank is original so we may have to change it. The house comes with the washer and dryer and stove, but the previous owners wanted to keep their precious fridge. So be it.

We have a smallish front yard but a good sized backyard (complete with patio lights...) and there is a separate garage (which unfortunately doesn't come with the funky car in it).

Still hungry for more details? Well, you'll just have to come visit!!

Dominik's description:

It was built around 1950, and it's called a "Victory Home". Down the road, you can stroll along General Ave., Marshall Ave., Admiral Ave., Veteran Ave., etc. I guess this is what is meant by "mature neighbourhood". We're also quite close to the Central Experimental Farm (which is pretty much right downtown, for those not familiar with Ottawa geography), and Val will have the pleasure of cycling through this on her way to work. Tee hee hee.

Some of the things we're looking forward to most:

Our house is located to the west of the Experimental Farm (the red splotch in the middle of town), between it and the Queensway (the big, grey, winding, northeast-southwest thoroughfare). Click the image for a detail of the southwest part of the image.
